CERN and Black Hole Raps

If you ever wanted proof that physicists have more fun, then here it is. It is a little cheesy until 00:34 and then it really starts to rock (as it were). Plus if you don’t have the time or the inclination to read Hawking’s A Brief History of Time then you might find this a good explanation to be getting on with.

The Large Hadron Collider does not seem automatically an obvious choice for a rap but the subject lends itself well to rapdaptation. The killa beats are provided by Will Barras who is a Phd student at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. The rapper is a lady by the name of Katherine McAlpine who is a science journalist or as her website puts it – a Science Communicator.

You might have to agree that she beautifully communicates some high fallutin’ ideas through the medium of rap.

If you think that this is fun, then check out the follow up by the same team – the Black Hole Rap. Following on from their introduction to particle physics is this rap which should put your mind at rest if you are concerned about the folks over at CERN creating a black hole which will suck and swallow the known universe.

If you have an interest in both particle physics and rap music then you might enjoy these outstanding performances come explanations.
