How it Works - The Incandescent Lightbulb

So, not forgetting we are about science too, here’s an animated presentation explaining the inner workings of the common incandescent bulb.  It’s a lot more fun than it sounds, honestly, with referenced sources including Minority Report, Tron and Star Trek. Yet it is the science which really shines through here and the subject is explained in a very clear way which a kid could understand (which meant I did too). In fact I would go as far as to say if you have a child who keeps asking you questins like how does a lightbulb work? plonk him or her down in front of this for a few minutes.

It is created by Joel Sweetman (currently studying for his Bachelor of Multimedia at Curtin University, Perth - Australia) who thought it would be interesting to take an otherwise mundane, yet mysterious object and break it down explaining exactly how and why it works. We are with you on that one, Joel – this was fascinating.
