Title Sequence for Ringer - New Sarah Michelle Gellar Vehicle

Here is a rather groovy spec title sequence pitch for the new CW television series Ringer, created by Daniel Kanemoto of Exmortis Films.

Sarah Michelle Gellar stars as a woman who goes on the run, hiding out by assuming the life of her wealthy identical twin sister. The series also stars Ioan Gruffudd, Nestor Carbonell and Kristoffer Polaha.

The opening titles kick off with an animated transition from the final moments of the show's opening 'teaser'. The first few seconds of footage in the pitch were taken from a commercial for the series, but the sequence is designed to incorporate a customized animated transition driven by the different ending of each episode's teaser.

What do you think? This, it has to be said, is an excellent, short and very sharp opening title sequence with great animation and a very cool choice of music. Let us know!

Med Men

The scene, the AMC offices, 2006. Producer Matthew Weiner is attempting to sell his idea for a new series to a TV executive. Set in the 1960s the show will center around the Sterling Cooper Advertising Agency on Madison Avenue, New York City. The lead character will be a creative director at the firm, Don Draper.

The TV Exec shrugs. “Well Matt, we love your idea, but we would like to see a few changes before we give your project the green light. First, we like the idea of an advertising agency but feel that the audience will be more receptive to the show being set in a hospital – St Cooper’s perhaps. We love the Don Draper character but feel that Dr Don would be a much better fit in our vision."

On the whim of a TV Exec, out goes Sterling Cooper and in comes St Cooper’s with Doctor Don Draper at the helm.

And so Med Men was born. After all, it only takes a syllable.  Cue new opening titles.

The Walking Dead - Opening Titles

The Walking Dead - the much awaited AMC TV series based on the hugely successful comic book by Robert Kirkman will launch on Halloween this year.  Until then, fans have had to make do with a few teaser trailer but one enterprising soul, Daniel Kanemoto, has gone one step further.  He has created his own opening titles to the show - and the results are excellent.  If AMC haven't already sorted out their opening titles, then they should really get on the phone to Mr Kanemoto right now...!

This spec title sequence was created using artwork ripped from the pages of the comic, originally illustrated by Charlie Adlard and Tony Moore.  As well as referencing the story's comic book roots it is exceptionally well executed.  Kanemoto made it after a moment of inspiration at this year's Comic-Con. If Frank Darabont (the director of the TV series whose past credits include The Shawshank Redemption and Frankenstein) is watching - dump your opening sequence and swap it for this one please!
