Zombi U Trailer

This is quite spectacular but before you watch this can I make clear that I am not including this either as an advert or because I am a fan of gaming (I think the last shoot ‘em up game was probably Space Invaders and I'm not sure that counts anyway).

I am including this on Kuriositas simply because I found the animation quite extraordinary.  From the soundtrack used it looks as if it is set in and around the recent Jubilee celebrations. I have to say I have never heard God Save the Queen used for the soundtrack to a zombie apocalypse before but it works!

This is a debut trailer for Zombi U from a certain u-biquitous gaming company. It shows that the action will take place in Great Britain, after a zombie virus has devastated the country. Seemingly the game will be for those over a certain age only. You’re not kidding!

Trashy Novel

Sometimes there is so much going on around us that it is difficult to know where to begin so we can make a difference. This video by Good.is offers a solution of sorts. It is done using an extended visual metaphor - a young man buries himself away in a novel only to be bombarded by the trash produced by others. He carries on reading his novel but only after doing something small - and useful - with what he finds around him.

The message is pretty clear - we can all do something to help the environment only if it is in a small way. By taking a little time out we can help clear up the mess made by ourselves and others in ways that will both reduce the trash pile and make something new out of it. Recycling is an old message, but this short movie does it in a new and original way. Bravo.

Every Home Needs a Harvey

The newest hit TV advert in the UK is to enourage advertising itself.  Created by agency Red Brick Road agency for Thinkbox, its aim is to show the powerful effect that TV adverts can have.  And it is funny.

A couple are looking for a new pet so they visit the local dog's home to see if they can choose a dog to adopt.  The first two dogs are adorable and then comes the third. If ugly is cute, then Harvey is the most beautiful dog ever.  However, this canny pooch is well aware of his shortcomings and has created a TV ad to effectively sell himself.

There isn't anything this dog can't do.  He can mow the lawn, play chess, do the school run as well as help with chores around the house such as ironing, cooking and cleaning. The tag line at the end is Every home needs a Harvey.

With a cool soundtrack - You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet by Bachman-Turner Overdrive (which either puts a sell by date on the creative minds behind this or amply demonstrates their parents' taste) from 1974   The team include Justin Tindall as Creative Director and Andy McLeod as Director with Gemmap Philips as Copywriter.

I wonder how much a TV ad for Kuriositas would cost?
