Valencia Hyperlapse: Exploring the City of Arts and Sciences and Historic Old Town

Valencia is a remarkable city.  On one hand you have the City of Arts and Sciences, which looks like it could be set from a science fiction movie (several have been filmed there).  On the other you have the Old Town, with its sweeping historic squares, not to mention the cathedral and city hall.  It’s like past and present come together in one seamless motion, particularly if you watch this hyperlapse by Kirill Neiezhmakov.  It’s a masterclass in how timelapses are evolving into an art form – thanks to great photography and some equally impressive technology.  Although we have featured Valencia before on Kuriositas, I have never seen it look so beautiful as in this  video.

Neiezhmakov always carries a folding bike with him, on which to move between locations.  Valencia’s network of cycle paths enabled him to do this with ease and to chase what he calls “the perfect light”.   Amazingly, there were no drones involved in the making of this short film – but I for one certainly wouldn’t blame you if you thought that there were.  Instead, the creation of this hyperlapse involved painstaking work, with each shot created by moving the camera and tripod manually.    Watch the resulting magic below.
