You know how you can be drawn to something, just because of the title?  That was what originally pulled me towards Darren Brady's Keep Fett the Boba Way.  With a title like that I just had to take a peek.  What I found was something which I had to watch through all the way to the end. And I enjoyed it too.

When something is described as fan-made, then other words can sometimes spring to mind.  We don't need to repeat them here - you know what they are.  Sure enough, the most polite of all of them is earnest. Keep Fett does qualify to be described by many of those afore-not-mentioned adjectives - but don't click on the back button too soon here.

I am not a huge stop-motion fan not least because it is nowadays a lot more straightforward an animation technique to do badly - and to launch it on the internet without a qualm about others' aesthetic sensibilities.  In other words I am a stop-motion snob but that's OK - I'm European. Yet what most fan made attempts lack is the ability to take the rise out of themselves and their subject matter. They take the fun out of the original simply by being way too reverential.  Not this one.

Keep Fett the Boba Way has the added draw of not containing itself within the Star Wars universe.  It references may other place and times and does not confine itself to a long time ago, in a galaxy far far away.  Keep your eyes peeled - there are more than you can shake a stick at here.  Thanks to Darren Boyd for a few minutes of mindless, escapist fun.
